Free Online Workforce Development Tutorials
GCF LearnFree is a great resource for workforce development. Along with tutorials on software and education subjects, they offer life skills and job skills – like how to fill out an application, how to manage a household budget, how to hunt for jobs, etc. I also saw iPad/iPhone updates, streaming the internet to your TV, setting up wi-fi and a printer. Good resource for those teens getting ready to move out on their own and enter the workforce.
New Books for Kids
Langley Public Library has added new titles to the children’s section. All books are listed with AR information so you can get started on your AR requirements now. Everyone knows how important it is to read to our children, so come in and check out the newest titles and don’t forget there are many more new books at OK Virtual Library to download. Start the school year off right, come to the Library and get a head start.
YA Section – New Look New Books
Our Young Adult Section has moved to a new area in the Library. With the change we have new up-to-date books that will keep you on the edge of your seat. From the action packed Divergent series to The Fault In Our Stars heart wrenching romance, a book can be found for whatever style of reading interests you.
The Young Adult section has over the years been stereotyped into a teenager’s only zone. This assumption often drives adults away, but the Young Adult section isn’t just for teenagers–Hints the name. YA books provide as much depth in character, settings, and description as in any adult book. So be daring and try reading one of our YA books, you may be pleasantly surprised.
